What is the difference between TeamAssurance and SafetyCulture?
SafetyCulture is best known for its inspection app, iAuditor. SafetyCulture's website now redirects to mitti.com, which presents the product as Mitti (by SafetyCulture) and describes it as an operations system for every site, shift and standard. The platform names inspections, issue reporting with AI issue capture, training, lone worker, task management, communications, document management, analytics, benchmarking, contractor management, sensors, asset maintenance and investigations, and it serves manufacturing, facilities management, hospitality, construction and retail among others.
TeamAssurance is narrower in industries and deeper in the management system. Checklists and audits are part of it, but they feed a tiered daily management routine: findings land on the team's tier board, escalate from Tier 1 to Tier 3, and close through A3, five whys or fishbone problem solving. Leader standard work, gemba walks, a skills matrix, asset care and strategy deployment run on the same platform, which is what lean and operational excellence programmes usually need.

When is SafetyCulture the better fit?
SafetyCulture is a strong fit for organisations that need inspections and issue reporting across many locations and industries, quickly and at scale, especially in facilities, hospitality, construction and retail. SafetyCulture's breadth (sensors, lone worker, contractor management, training) and its published plans, including one for small teams, make it easy to start. Many teams already use it for safety inspections.
When is TeamAssurance the better fit?
TeamAssurance suits manufacturing, mining, food and beverage, pharmaceutical and utility operations that want inspections to drive a daily management system: findings discussed at the next tier meeting, escalated when the team cannot fix them, solved to root cause and verified, with leaders' standard work and site objectives in the same place. Some sites keep a dedicated inspection tool and connect it; others move their checklists into TeamAssurance so the daily routine runs in one system.
What should you ask in a demo?
- Show a failed inspection item appearing at the next Tier 1 meeting and escalating to Tier 2.
- Show a repeat finding moving into A3 or five whys and the countermeasure being verified.
- Show a leader's standard work, including gemba walks and layered process audits.
- Show how skills and training records link to the standard being inspected.
- Ask how site KPIs and actions roll up to strategic objectives.
A worked example
A typical evaluation: a mining services site used an inspection app for pre-starts and workplace inspections, but repeat findings kept reappearing because nobody reviewed them as a team. The site compared keeping the inspection app and adding a daily management system against moving both into one platform, testing each option on whether last week's repeat findings would reach the Tier 2 meeting with an owner and a root cause.
