Safety
- Take 5 Safety Checklist
A Take 5 is a personal risk assessment a worker does in about five minutes before starting a task: stop and think about the job, look for hazards, assess the risk, put controls in place, then proceed only if it is safe. This checklist gives the five steps, the prompts under each, the stop-work rule and the record.
- 100 Toolbox Talk Topics
Toolbox talk topics are the subjects a supervisor covers in short pre-start safety talks. The best ones come from the site's own near misses, audit findings and upcoming tasks; this list of one hundred, grouped by theme, is for the weeks when nothing stands out. Tick the ones you have covered, and run each with the toolbox talk template so the actions are recorded.
- Safety Messages of the Day
A safety message of the day is a one-line safety reminder shared at the start of a shift, huddle or pre-start meeting, taking under a minute. These ninety are written for the safety item on a Tier 1 board, one per working day for a quarter, grouped into weekly themes, each phrased as something the crew can do today.
- Safety Observation Card
A safety observation card is the one-page record a leader or peer completes while watching a task for a few minutes: the behaviours seen as safe or at risk by category, the conversation held with the person, and any hazard or action raised. This card and guide set out how to run observations that improve conditions rather than count cards.
Leadership routines
- Gemba Walk Checklist
A gemba walk checklist is a short, repeatable list of what a leader looks for, asks and records when they go to the place where work is done. This one fits on a page: board review and theme before the walk, 15 questions grouped by safety, quality, delivery, cost and people during it, and actions with owners and dates after it.
